3 ways to remind yourself that God is always near.

If you’re asking God to be near, for Him to make an appearance and comfort your aching heart- you’ve got it backwards.

God doesn’t take breaks, He doesn’t ignore, ever. Period.

Just like you couldn’t earn your salvation, you can’t earn the right to speak intimately with God. He’s done the work. The bridge has been connected, it’s up to you to remember the bridge exists.

3 ways to remind yourself that God is always near.

1 / Read Scripture

“Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to heaven, you are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.” - Pslam 139

If you’re having difficulty “feeling” God’s presence or guidance in your life, check in with scripture. The word of God tells us very clearly that He is “Omnipresent”; which means He exists beyond physical limitations and time. We cannot “lose” God, however, we can choose to not participate in the relationship. We are most intimate with God when we are resting in our position and identity in Christ. It’s never about “trying harder”, but rather, “resting lighter”.

2 / Rest in your position

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” - Rom. 5:1

Justification or Salvation is not meant to be “experienced”. Your salvation is a 100% true FACT. The peace that comes from believing that truth IS the rest we can experience. Isn’t that so simple?! Friend, rest in the peace of knowing for certain that Jesus took care of it, and He asks for nothing in return. Nothing. Naturally you’ll WANT to “pay him back”, and the only way you can do this is by accepting your position with utmost gratitude, and even then, that’s not a requirement. Doesn’t that make you even more grateful?!

3 / Teach someone else

“ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matt. 28:19-20

I learn best by teaching a friend (or a stranger) the truths that I’ve listed above. There’s nothing I love more than explaining someone’s eternal security to them. By doing this we are equipping believers to rest in their position. When people are secure they naturally want to tell others the Good News, and a beautiful cycle is born. Jesus has paved the way. He is the ultimate guide on our journey. Go tell a friend!

Our perspectives are powerful, and there is a force that desperately wants to confuse you. Positioned in Christ we have full access to Jesus. There’s nothing you could do to make him hang up the phone. There’s no need to plead with Him to be close, or listen, or comfort.

I’ll be resting,

- Vivian
